THIS PERMIT IS ISSUED SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
  1. No person shall set a fire at any time or place within the Township of the North Shore unless such person/persons have obtained a permit to burn and agree to abide by the Township Open-Air Burning By-Law "16-15".
  2. No person shall start, set or maintain a fire on any property unless that person is the owner of the property or written permission from the owner has been obtained; and the written permission is available for viewing at the property.
  3. There must be an adult attendant at the scene of the fire at all times and the fire must be completely extinguished before the attendant shall leave. Sufficient tools, equipment and water must be readily available for the size of the burn being conducted to allow easy extinguishment of the fire at any time.
  4. This permit may be revoked at any time in the absolute discretion of the Fire Chief or his/her designate.
  5. Priority consideration must be given to neighbours, to avoid any physical discomfort as a result of burning and could require the burning to be stopped (this includes offensive odours and nuisance smoke).
  6. The applicant hereby acknowledges that in the event any of the foregoing conditions are not complied with, this permit may become null and void and the applicant shall be liable for the full cost of extinguishing the fire.
  7. The provisions of this permit shall apply to a fire that is;
    1. Recreational Burn - contained within an area not less than 3 metres (10 feet) to any building or structure, tree, hedge, fence, roadway, overhead wires, or property line or is contained within a pit in the ground. The diameter of the fire does not exceed one (1) cubic metre.
    2. Brush Burn - contained within an area not less than 10 metres (32.5 feet) to any building or structure, tree, hedge, fence, roadway, overhead wires, or property line. The diameter of the fire does not exceed two (2) cubic metres.
  8. You CANNOT burn household garbage, plastic, painted/pressure treated boards, rubber or any material unfriendly to the environment.
  9. A FIRE BAN PROHIBITS the issuance of burning permits; SUSPENDS all existing burning permits issued and REQUIRES all outdoor fires to be extinguished immediately.
  10. From April 1st until October 31st burning is permitted from 2 hours before sunset to 2 hours after sunrise only. No Daytime Burning is allowed.

YOUR BURNING PERMIT WILL ONLY BE VALID ONCE IT HAS BEEN REVIEWED AND SIGNED BY A TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE MUNICIPAL STAFF MEMBER. THE OFFICIAL BURNING PERMIT WILL BE E-MAILED TO THE E-MAIL YOU PROVIDED ABOVE, OR WILL BE MAILED TO THE MAILING ADDRESS PROVIDED ABOVE (IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO, PLEASE SPECIFY HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE YOUR OFFICIAL BURNING PERMIT).
